The U.K. Subs at Tři Sestry Festival, Prague, Czechia on 17 May 2024.
The first festival of 2024 for me. Despite the pouring rain earlier in the day, which didn’t augur well for an outdoor festival, as soon as King Charlie and the U.K. Subs hit the stage the clouds parted and it remained dry throughout their entire set. Access to the VIP tent during the earlier downpours was a very welcome luxury (thank you Stefan and Yuko).
Prior to the Subs, the groups performing were all local and regional bands. Despite the language issues, I quite enjoyed the ones that I caught. I especially liked S.P.S. who, I understand, are an old Punk band from Prague with a long history. It was great to catch up with Steve from the Subs before he went on stage, and with Yuko, faithful to the merch stand as always. Charlie delighted the folks around the merch stand by coming out before the show and sharing his birthday bottle of whisky with those who felt like a wee dram. Good on you Charlie, and a great way to start your 80th birthday celebrations.
All in all, a very enjoyable and well-organised festival despite the dubious weather conditions.
