So, Charlie’s final U.K. Subs gig of his 70s is in Bristol, and what a stormer of a gig to usher in his 80th birthday the next day.

The Ramonas opened up with a mix of Ramones covers on which they have built a solid reputation, and their own compositions. I’ve never been a huge Ramones fan myself, but I could appreciate the Ramonas’ skill in reproducing these classic songs, albeit with the twist of having a female vocalist.

The Fleece is a great venue and the enthusiastic crowd wouldn’t let the Subs leave the stage at the end of their set. So, it appeared that they played an extra song or 2 that they were saving for the following night’s birthday bash in London.
