Face Up in Arlon on 2 June 2024

Face Up at the Entrepôt in Arlon, Belgium on 2 June 2024.

The first of the 2 gigs in 2 different countries on the same day that I attended. Firstly, the wonderfulFace Up came to the Entrepôt, Belgium as part of the Resistance Festival promoting social awareness prior to the European elections.

Playing an early matinée show on their way home from Germany to the U.K., Face Up played to an already full Entrepôt at 4 in the afternoon. Technical problems meant that they played most of their set without their lead guitarist who was unable to get any sound out of his guitar. He bravely rejoined his bandmates to lend a hand on backing vocals during the last part of the set. Like true professionals, the band carried on as if nothing unusual had happened, and their power and energy won over the enthusiastic crowd. Roxanne showed once again what a fantastic front woman she is.

I had to leave fairly early to drive to Dusseldorf for the UK Subs gig, but the band stayed around chatting to people at the merch desk. However, we did manage to get a couple of photos with myself and Régis, our singer, in t-shirts of our band Down Yer Pint, before I left. We also managed to introduce them to Orval beer, the best beverage from our part of Belgium, which they all appeared to appreciate.

A great bunch of guys and girl who will hopefully return to Arlon to play a full evening gig sometime soon and are now firmly mates of ours. In any case, I will no doubt be seeing them play live again somewhere sometime soon.
