HiFi Spitfires at Circolo Arci Margot in Carmagnola, Italy on 17 February 2024.
Another fab night out in Italy with the HiFi Spitfires who were playing in Carmagnola on the 2nd night of their short Italian foray. A bit of an odd one this one, as Carmagnola is a municipality in the City of Turin where the band is due to play the following day.
The venue was lovely and appeared to be a converted cinema. Despite the fact that Carmagnola is apparently quite difficult to get to by public transport, the turn out was pretty good. To be fair, many of the members of the fairly young audience seemed to know each other and/or the 2 other bands on the bill.
The Spitfires were enthusiastically received, going on in between the other 2 bands. It was noticeable that the Promoter was constantly supplying the lads with some sort of local alcohol shot. So, it was no surprise that by the end of the gig, the guys were pretty well oiled 🙂 . I have to admit that I did pretty well keeping up with them and I ended up in the bar with Tony and the DJ singing along to Clash songs as loudly as we could. Once the venue closed with headed back to our hotel (I think there is only 1 in Carmagnola) to continue the festivities in the band’s room.
So Carmagnola … a fantastic bunch of people amongst both the organisers and the audience. It turned into a bit of a late one in the end, of which certain people have no real recollection.
