The Exploited + Disturbance at Poppodium Cpunt in Hoofdoorp, Netherlands on 21 April 2024.
The last of the 3 Exploited gigs in the Netherlands hits the Cpunt (yes, read that again carefully) in Hoofdoorp which is very close to Amsterdam airport.
The perfect support for tonight’s gig is provided by Disturbance, the band of Jo Oom who had been filling in on the drum kit for the Exploited until the end of 2023. They really impressed me with their proper guitar punk sound.
The final Exploited show of the tour was a bit of an odd one. I generally stand at the barrier to the stage if I am able to. The mosh pit tends to bash into us standing right at the front rom time to time. Occasionally, we get knocked in the back by the moshers, or whacked in the head by the stage divers, which is all par for the course. But this evening, the moshers (or a couple of the Cpunts) seemed to be quite happy to smack into anyone around them, including those of us at the barrier. The result was that my fellow regular Exploited follower managed to have her wrist and hand broken. The evening therefore ended up in the backstage area, working out if it was a serious injury and then a visit to Emergency at the local hospital for a few hours.
Not the greatest end to the Dutch dates, but looking forward to the next ones.
UPDATE: as it turned out, the next scheduled dates were cancelled due to Wattie’s health issues, but hopefully (at the tome of posting), the band will be back on the road at the end of June.
