The Exploited + The Casualties at Turock in Essen, Germany on 30 November 2023.
It’s been a while since I have seen a band at the Turock in Essen, one of the bigger of the handful of great venues in the city. I’ve been a few times recently to Don’t Panic, a few doors down, which is also a great place to see bands.
I catch some of the Casualties from upstairs at the venue and take some photos on the way down the stairs. The band put in a solid performance, although I have to admit that I am not a big fan of theirs. Sorry guys. In any case, the audience seem to be enjoying themselves.
The Exploited are as brilliant as ever and I manage to get some decent shots of the whole band (only one of Jo on drums, though). I am particularly pleased with some of the action shots of Rob, who looks rather manic in one of them, for some reason. 🙂
I am so close to the stage this evening that the back of my bald head accidentally (I hope!) comes into contact with Rob’s bass head at one stage. 
The immediate result can be seen in one of the photos. There is a video on my original FB post which shows Rob’s reaction when he realises that he’s hit me (priceless 
). He kindly patches me up after the show.
I spot members of the Rumkicks at the side of the stage who seem to be having fun and get a few pix of them. I believe that they are playing the Turock tomorrow and are here on their day off today.
Another great gig and off to Drachten in the Netherlands tomorrow for the next Exploited show.
