A quick trip back to the UK to see Chaos 8 and HiFi Spitfires at Diego’s Joint in Sunderland. My first time not only at the venue, but also in Sunderland itself. What better way to see these 2 brilliant bands than on their own home turf?
Diego’s Joint is a really cool bar with a small stage at the front, whether permanent or temporary for this gig, I’m not sure. The bar has links to another great local band, Slalom D. So, I travel over from Belgium specially for the gig, as it’s a rare occasion to see both bands playing on the same bill.
Being a fairly small bar, the venue does not have the lighting conditions of a full-scale venue, so taking pictures is a little challenging, especially during HiFi Spitfires (hence conversion to B&W). The Chaos 8 photos are taken before I am compelled to put my camera down and head to the front for a bit of a dance.
Both bands play excellent sets and are enthusiastically received by the home audience. A fantastic evening with 2 great bands in a really cool venue with great people, and definitely worth the trip over.
