The bonus gig in Berlin. A lovely surprise in the Franken bar opposite SO36 in Berlin to find out that Face Up are playing a free gig in there before the U.K. Subs play over the road at SO36.
Apparently the FU gig was arranged before the Subs were announced at the venue opposite, but thankfully, the timing for Face Up meant that we could catch them first and then go over the road for Nasty Rumours warming up for Charlie and Co.
Despite the fact that the band was delayed on the motorway to Berlin due to an accident, and arrived less than 90 minutes before going on stage, they managed to set the whole front and back line up to hit the stage on time. And a cracking performance they put on too. Not the greatest layout for a venue for a live gig but Roxy managed to take command of the situation and won over the audience with an energetic performance. They definitely picked up a few new fans amongst the Subs fans who had ventured across the road to see them.
I was already a fan of Face Up, so love the fact that this was an unexpected bonus gig for me and that I would be seeing them again in Arlon, Belgium a few days later.
