HiFi Spitfires in Turin on 18 February 2024

HiFi Spitfires + Daelirium at Blah Blah Club in Turin on 18 February 2024.

The morning after the night before … we all set off to the station for our train from Carmagnola to Turin Central, some of us looking a bit brighter than others 🙂 . We were met at the Central Station by Promoter Dario and his family who kindly gave us a guided walking tour of the centre of Turin, before a nice lunch at a sidewalk cafe. I do like Turin as it’s how I imagine an Italian city should be in terms of architecture and atmosphere.

I’ve been to Blah Blah before and it is a very nice venue although quite narrow and long (once the front area is opened up). The support band Daelirium were something of a revelation. A young band fronted by charismatic (even if she was quite nervous) singer Giulia, they really got the audience warmed up for the Spitfires. This Italian band will be huge, if there is any justice in this world.

A brilliant final show from the Spitfires to bring their short Italian tour to a spectacular end. The youngsters in the crowd showed their appreciation by crowdsurfing, whilst us old folk tried to keep out of harm’s way at the sides. I even found myself being carried aloft at one stage by some of the stronger young folk 😉 .

I really enjoyed my 3 days hanging out with the Spitfires and with Keith and Fiona who made the trek over from the U.K. A number of new friendships made with the Promoter, Dario and his wife, as well as the local Italian fans. Look forward to doing it all again sometime and returning to Northern Italy in the not-too-distant future.
