The U.K. Subs + Knock Off at the Sub 89 in Reading, UK on 10 January 2025
The 2nd of my UK Subs gigs of the week tonight at Sub 89 in Reading, with new guitarist Abe Ing. No photos or review of last night’s gig at the 100 Club in London, as I was too busy enjoying the moment. How fitting though that my first gig of 2025 should be the UK Subs, supported by the excellent Guitar Gangsters, the exact same line up as my final gig of 2024 a few weeks ago (albeit with a slightly different Subs line up).
Tonight is another great performance from Knock Off who, along with the aforementioned Guitar Gangsters, have been amongst my favourite “newly discovered” bands of recent years. A full one hour set too, so they play pretty much all of my fave songs, which I am happy to sing along to at full voice. 🙂 See you again soon chaps.
It’s going to take a bit of getting used to not seeing Steve (Straughan) on stage with the Subs, but what a fantastic job Abe has done on both occasions. Seamlessly stepping into the shoes of a long line of great Subs guitarists and looking very much the part too. I will miss Steve, but I am looking forward to many more gigs with Abe over the next year and beyond. BARDAR.
